5. SAFETY POLICY
a) It is the policy of the EFAA that any club affiliated to the said Association shall carry out risk assessments as a matter of course relevant to the club’s circumstances. This shall be displayed on the club grounds in a prominent place with unrestricted access.
It is also the policy of the Association that each club will have to submit proof of current risk assessments to the Range Charter Officer to qualify as a chartered course suitable for EFAA activities.
b) An accident book shall also be retained by each club, which will be available for inspection or review at any time. The Range Charter Officer should be responsible for an annual review of the accident books or as requested.
c) It is recommended that a First Aid Kit be readily accessible, and that its whereabouts be made known by prominent signs.
d) That no archer may draw or point an arrow in a dangerous manner.
e) It must be recognised that the success of the health and safety policy demands the full co-operation of all members of the EFAA to follow accepted rules and codes of practice. We must take care of ourselves and of others who may be affected by our actions.

6. SHOOTING ETIQUETTE
“All shooting activities during competition should be conducted with good manors and consideration to other archers following E.F.A.A. Course Etiquette.”
“E.F.A.A. Course Etiquette will be defined and maintained by the committee, published periodically in the Field Archer and also be distributed as part of the coaching process and manual”.
1. Groups out on the course should not make contact with groups in front or behind unless at a tea or smoke stop.
2. If the next target is not clear, the group should stay at the target they are scoring until the next becomes available.
3. Archers are expected not to move from the peg they are shooting until the archer they are shooting with, has shot, this also applies to walk ups and fans.
4. Consideration should be shown for other archers in the group just prior and at full draw.
5. The same consideration as above should be shown to other groups when in close contact.
6. Within the shooting group archers not scoring should help to pull arrows.
These points are not intended to take the fun or humour out of shooting but to help with concentration at major shoots, and may be added to if needed at a later date.

ENGLISH FIELD ARCHERY ASSOCIATION PROCEDURES
1. MEMBERSHIP of the EFAA is as detailed in item 3 of the EFAA Constitution.
2. MEMBERSHIP CARDS must be produced at official shoots. In the event of an archer needing a new card because he has “filled up” the old one, he shall return his old card to the Membership Secretary, who will then issue a new one at no charge.
In the event of an archer losing his card, a replacement will be issued by the Membership Secretary on receipt of a replacement fee (determined from time to time by the Executive Committee). This fee should be submitted together with a written statement from the archer’s club secretary of the archer’s class. If this statement is not submitted a new card will be issued, but the archer will have to reclassify in the normal manner, which will be the case anyway when other than EFAA events are attended.
Archers unable to produce membership cards at an official shoot shall be considered as non-members and obliged to purchase Temporary membership.
3. QUALIFICATION AND STATUS FOR REPRESENTATIVE SHOOTING

4. TOURNAMENT STANDARDS

a) One individual shall be in overall charge of the event and he must ensure that the “host” club are in possession of the “standards” and are making arrangements in accordance with these. He must ensure that the Administration arrangements are to schedule, the proposed range and shooting particulars are suitable and that general preparations are to hand.
b) The Range Charter Officer (or a senior appointed deputy) shall inspect and approve the proposed range at least two weeks prior to the event, to allow any necessary modifications to be made. (This is not necessary if all the ranges involved are already chartered.)
c) The Tournaments Officer shall notify holders of challenge trophies, at least one month prior to the event, and shall ensure the return of the trophies, in suitable condition for re-presentation. The Officer shall also make a record of the winners of such trophies at the event.
d) Equipment that will be used by competitors in all divisions must be inspected. The inspecting official should be quipped with a complete list of competitors, so that inspection can be made as early as possible, during Registration and Practice and before Assembly.

f) Shoot organisers will inspect entrants Membership Cards at Registration and retain them, if applicable, for score marking.
g) The Field Captain shall not shoot in the event.
h) On the first day of a tournament shooting groups can, at the discretion of the tournaments Officer, be of mixed styles and abilities. On the second day shooting groups shall be arranged, as far as possible, to shoot “against the head”, i.e. by class and division to shoot against those of near equal ability.
i) Double scoring shall be used, the second and third members of each group acting as scorers.
j) A list of groups shall be displayed in the assembly area to show each archer’s starting target number, and the previous days score (if applicable).
k) Groups shall gather in the assembly area to be addressed by the officiating Officer.
l) Suitable arrangements shall be made to enable groups to find their starting targets; sign posts, range maps, marshals etc.
m) Determination of winners should be done as quickly and efficiently as possible which will require a number of helpers. One or two are insufficient for this task.
n) The prize-giving should be organised in a dignified manner in keeping with the event. Suitable ceremony, presentation platform and the use of a public address system should be considered. Awards to Champions or other winners should be made after lesser or merit awards.
o) In all Tournaments run directly by the EFAA, regardless of class, 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall should receive awards depending on entry in the divisions. i.e. 1 for 1, 2 for 4 and 3 for 76+
p) A Champion to be the highest scorer in any division contested by two or more archers. In any division contested by a sole archer, that archer must be classified before the Tournament in that style to be Champion.
q) At all EFAA Major Tournaments, the “A” class are considered open and are only competing for Champion awards, i.e. no A class award. 1st in B and C classes will receive a patch.
r) The E.F.A.A. does not recognise any "status" difference between divisions and award order should depend on the number of competitors in each division - those with the highest number of entrants being awarded last.

5. NATIONAL RECORDS.
The EFAA maintains records of the highest scores shot by members in each of the recognised division, in each of the official rounds, The record lists are compiled by the National Classification and Incentives Officer from returns made by shoot organisers.
An archer breaking a record is advised to ensure that the shoot organiser knows that a record has been broken and that he should make note of this on his score return.
In the event of a record being omitted from the list, the archer who broke the record may make his own return to the Classifications and Incentives Officer which should be accompanied by the relevant score card.
Records can only be set up or broken at Official Tournaments, which have been properly notified to the Tournaments Officer, and where there was a proper equipment inspection and where double scoring was in operation. All records will be published by the EFAA from time to time.

To claim a SFM award, the required scores must be attained twice in any 12 month period.
